Trek Overview

Nestled away in the heart of a cradle shaped valley, the trek to Har Ki Doon valley is known to be one of the most stunning and picturesque treks in Uttarakhand Embraced with scenic alpine meadows and striking greeneries, the beauty and splendour of this portion of the Garhwal Himalayas is credited by snow clad peaks, panoramic views of the Himalayan Range, gurgling rivulets and much more.
Locally known as the 'Valley of Gods', trekking through this eternal meadow is one of the best experiences and is rewarded with mesmerising views of the glaciers, mountain ridges, ancient temples, appealing caves and high altitude villages. According to the legends, Har Ki Doon valley shares its history with the age of the Mahabharata and holds an important place in the Hindu mythology.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri (200 Km Approx.)

Departure: 6:00 AM from Dehradun Railway Station | Drive Duration: 9-10 hrs | Stay: Guesthouse/Homestay in Sankri

Our journey begins early in the morning from Dehradun Railway Station. Ensure you reach the pickup location at least 30 minutes before departure. We depart at 6:00 AM sharp towards Sankri, covering a distance of 200 km in approximately 9-10 hours.

The scenic drive passes through Mussoorie, Kempty Falls, Purola, Mori, and numerous picturesque villages. Along the way, you will witness the stunning Himalayan range, pine forests, and the Yamuna River flowing beside the road. Mori, a charming hamlet surrounded by dense pine forests and the Tons River, offers breathtaking views that make the long journey worth it.

Upon arrival at Sankri by evening, you will be assigned your accommodation. Enjoy a hot dinner, relax, and prepare for the trek ahead.

Highlights: Mussoorie views, Kempty Falls, Yamuna & Tons Rivers, Mori village, scenic drive.

Day 02: Sankri to Taluka (Drive) & Trek to Seema (12 Km Approx.)

Drive Distance: 12 km (Sankri to Taluka) | Trek Distance: 12 km | Trek Duration: 5-6 hrs | Stay: Camping at Seema

After breakfast, we drive to Taluka, a small village nestled in a dense forest of deodar and pine trees. The drive is exciting as we navigate winding roads with stunning views of the Supin River.

The trek to Seema begins from Taluka, crossing wooden bridges, meandering through lush forests, and passing by charming villages. You will find small tea stalls along the way to refresh yourself. The trail is mostly level with some rocky patches, offering breathtaking sights of the Himalayan wilderness.

Upon arrival at Seema, settle into your riverside campsite and enjoy a warm meal under the star-lit sky.

Highlights: Beautiful drive to Taluka, river crossings, forest trails, scenic campsite.

Day 03: Seema to Kalkattiyadhaar (7 Km Approx.)

Trek Distance: 7 km | Trek Duration: 3-4 hrs | Stay: Camping at Kalkattiyadhaar

Today’s trek takes us through a variety of landscapes, including lush meadows, grazing pastures, and the quaint Osla village. Osla is known for its rich history and beautiful wooden architecture. You can interact with the locals and learn about their unique culture and traditions.

The trail from Osla to Kalkattiyadhaar is a mix of gentle ascents and steep inclines, with panoramic views of the valley and cascading waterfalls. Keep your water bottles filled as the next water source is around 2 km ahead.

On arrival at Kalkattiyadhaar, we set up camp in a mesmerizing meadow surrounded by towering peaks. Enjoy a warm dinner and rest for the night.

Highlights: Osla village, traditional wooden houses, scenic waterfalls, camping in the meadows.

Day 04: Trek to Har Ki Dun Valley (10 Km Approx.)

Trek Distance: 10 km | Trek Duration: 5-6 hrs | Stay: Camping at Har Ki Dun

The most awaited day is here! We start early to trek towards Har Ki Dun Valley, the highlight of our journey. The trail gradually ascends, leading us through dense forests, alpine meadows, and gushing streams. As we climb higher, the views become more stunning, with snow-covered peaks visible in the distance.

Upon reaching Har Ki Dun, you will be mesmerized by the panoramic views of the Swargarohini massif, Hata Peak, and Jaundhar Glacier. Spend time soaking in the breathtaking scenery, clicking pictures, and enjoying the serenity of the valley.

After exploring Har Ki Dun, we begin our descent back to Kalkattiyadhaar for an overnight stay.

Highlights: Har Ki Dun Valley, snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows, Jaundhar Glacier views.

Day 05: Kalkattiyadhaar to Seema (Return Trek)

Trek Distance: 7 km | Trek Duration: 3-4 hrs | Stay: Camping at Seema

After breakfast, we begin our return journey. Retracing our steps, we pass through Osla village once again, giving us another chance to interact with the friendly locals.

Arriving at Seema by afternoon, you will have the rest of the evening to relax, explore, and enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the valley.

Highlights: Retracing Osla village, local interactions, relaxing at the campsite.

Day 06: Seema to Taluka (Trek) & Drive to Sankri

Trek Distance: 12 km | Trek Duration: 4-5 hrs | Drive Distance: 12 km (Taluka to Sankri) | Stay: Guesthouse in Sankri

We start our descent towards Taluka, following the same scenic trail. The trek is relatively easy, allowing you to enjoy the journey at a relaxed pace.

Upon reaching Taluka, we board our vehicles for the short drive back to Sankri, where you can enjoy a warm meal and a comfortable stay at the guesthouse.

Highlights: Easy descent, final views of the valley, comfortable stay at Sankri.

Day 07: Drive from Sankri to Dehradun (200 Km Approx.)

Drive Distance: 200 km | Drive Duration: 9-10 hrs

After an early breakfast, we board our vehicles for the long drive back to Dehradun. The journey allows you to reflect on the amazing trek experience and enjoy the scenic landscapes one last time.

We arrive at Dehradun by evening, marking the end of our incredible adventure. You will be dropped at Dehradun Railway Station, carrying with you unforgettable memories of the Himalayas.

Highlights: Beautiful morning in Sankri, scenic drive, final farewell to the mountains.

Inclusion / Exclusion

Inclusions:

  • Accommodation (Guest house, Home stay, Camping).
  • Meals while on trek (Veg. + Egg).
  • Trek equipment (Sleeping bag, mattress, kitchen & dining tent, crampon, utensils, tent).
  • All necessary permits and entry fees.
  • First aid medical kits, stretcher, and oxygen cylinder.
  • Mountaineering qualified & professional trek leader, guide, and support staff.

Exclusions:

  • Any kind of personal expenses.
  • Food during the transit.
  • Insurance.
  • Mules or porter to carry personal luggage.
  • Anything not specifically mentioned under the inclusions.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Change/Cancellation of Booking by the Participant

Process

The cancellation process is completely automated. Please log in to your Mountain Hike account and follow the instructions on your dashboard. You can choose between Instant Refund or Cash Refund as per the policy below.

Replacement of Participants

Participants can be replaced through the Mountain Hike dashboard if the booking status is “Paid” and at least 5 days remain before departure. If you face issues, email themountainhike@gmail.com with a screenshot of the error. The new participant must submit a signed undertaking form.

Note: Any Volvo/Train transport booked for the original participant will be automatically canceled and is non-transferable.

Cash Refund Policy

Cash refunds apply only for bookings made without promotional codes or vouchers. Refund amounts will be deducted as follows:

  • 30+ days before departure: 5% deduction
  • 15-30 days before departure: 50% deduction
  • Less than 15 days before departure: No Refund

Refunds will be processed to the original payment method and are based on the Base Price of the trek, excluding transport, insurance, and portage fees.

Voucher Refund Policy

Voucher refunds are available for all types of bookings, including promotional offers. Refund amounts will be:

  • 5+ days before departure: No deduction
  • Less than 5 days: No Refund

Vouchers are valid for 10 months from the date of issue. The refunded voucher amount does not include service tax paid during the original booking.

Cancellation or Change Initiated by Mountain Hike

We reserve the right to modify or cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions, natural disasters, low participation, or any force majeure events. If this occurs, you will be given the choice of:

  • A replacement event of equivalent value
  • A full refund (processed as a voucher valid for 6 months)

If cancellation is due to low participation, participants can choose between a cash refund or a voucher.

Changes/Cancellation After Departure

Due to Force Majeure

No refund will be provided for cancellations due to force majeure after departure.

Other Reasons

If cancellations occur for reasons other than force majeure, we will attempt to arrange alternative services or provide a refund in the form of a 6-month voucher (or cash, if preferred).

Participant Dropout During the Event

No refund will be provided if a participant voluntarily drops out of the trek. Any additional costs incurred for return arrangements will be borne by the participant.

Early Return from an Event

If a participant returns early due to force majeure or an event ending sooner than planned, additional expenses (extra nights, transport) must be covered by the participant.

Emergency Evacuation

In case of a medical emergency, we will arrange evacuation to the nearest hospital. Any costs for porters, vehicles, ambulance services, or hospitalization must be covered by the participant.
