Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Manali
Acclimatization is very crucial for this cycling trip. On the first day, participants arrive in Manali, located at an altitude of 2,050 meters (6,725 feet) in Himachal Pradesh. If arriving by flight, transfers can be arranged from Bhuntar Airport. We meet and greet the participants, discuss the plan for the trip, and perform a thorough bike check. In the free time, you can explore the charming streets of old Manali, soak in the local culture, or enjoy cafes and markets. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel in Manali.
Day 02: Manali to Marhi
After breakfast, the cycling adventure begins from Manali towards Marhi. The route passes through the scenic Solang Valley, surrounded by lush greenery and snow-capped peaks. The total cycling distance is approximately 30 km on moderately challenging roads. Riders can enjoy multiple photo stops along the way, taking in the beauty of the Himalayas. Evening arrival at Marhi allows time to rest and prepare for the next day. Overnight stay will be at a campsite in Marhi.
Day 03: Marhi to Keylong
Today, the cycling journey continues from Marhi to Keylong, covering approximately 65 km through some of the most breathtaking Himalayan terrain. The route ascends gradually, passing through the iconic Rohtang Pass, offering panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and winding mountain roads. Riders will experience the thrill of high-altitude cycling while surrounded by lush valleys and cascading streams. Keylong, the administrative center of Lahaul, provides a comfortable overnight stay in guesthouses, where cyclists can rest and prepare for the challenges ahead.
Day 04: Keylong to Zingzingbar
On day four, cyclists ride from Keylong to Zingzingbar, covering approximately 45 km through rugged mountain terrain. The route passes through Jispa and offers spectacular views of the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges. Riders will encounter winding roads, high passes, and streams, making this a moderately challenging day. Zingzingbar is a high-altitude campsite, perfect for overnight stay under the stars, offering an authentic Himalayan adventure experience.
Day 05: Zingzingbar to Sarchu
Today, the ride continues from Zingzingbar to Sarchu, covering approximately 50 km. Cyclists will traverse the famous Gata Loops, a series of 21 challenging hairpin bends, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. This day marks the transition from Himachal Pradesh into the Ladakh region, with vast open landscapes and high-altitude plains. The ride is moderately to highly challenging due to elevation gain and terrain. Overnight stay will be at a campsite in Sarchu, providing a chance to rest and acclimatize for the days ahead.
Day 06: Sarchu to Pang
On day six, cyclists ride from Sarchu to Pang, covering approximately 55 km across high-altitude plateaus. The route passes through the Baralacha La Pass, offering stunning views of glaciers, rivers, and the vast Himalayan landscape. The terrain is moderately challenging, and riders will experience the thrill of cycling at high elevations. Overnight stay will be at a campsite in Pang, allowing riders to rest under the clear Himalayan skies.
Day 07: Pang to Lato
Day seven takes cyclists from Pang to Lato, covering around 60 km of rugged terrain. The route traverses remote stretches of Ladakh, offering spectacular vistas of mountains, valleys, and high-altitude deserts. Riders should be prepared for moderate to challenging cycling conditions with altitude considerations. Overnight stay will be at a campsite in Lato, providing a peaceful night in the heart of Ladakh.
Day 08: Lato to Leh
On day eight, the ride from Lato to Leh spans approximately 55 km through beautiful valleys and riverbanks. Cyclists will enter the heart of Ladakh, witnessing iconic landscapes, monasteries, and local villages. The terrain is moderately challenging, and the ride offers plenty of opportunities for photography and sightseeing. Arrival in Leh allows for overnight stay in a comfortable hotel, preparing for the high-altitude ride to Khardung La the next day.
Day 09: Leh to Khardung La and back
Day nine is one of the highlights of the trip: a ride to Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes in the world, at 5,359 meters (17,582 feet). The round-trip distance is approximately 40 km from Leh. Cyclists will face steep inclines and high-altitude conditions, but the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains make it unforgettable. Return to Leh in the evening for a hotel stay and rest.
Day 10: Leh Departure
The final day marks the conclusion of the cycling adventure. Participants will transfer from their hotel to Leh Airport for departure. This day allows time for last-minute shopping, photography, or exploring Leh town before heading home. The journey concludes with memories of the stunning landscapes, challenging rides, and the camaraderie built over 10 days of cycling through Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh.
Inclusion / Exclusion
Inclusions:
- Accommodation (Guest house, Home stay, Camping).
- Meals while on trek (Veg. + Egg).
- Trek equipment (Sleeping bag, mattress, kitchen & dining tent, crampon, utensils, tent).
- All necessary permits and entry fees.
- First aid medical kits, stretcher, and oxygen cylinder.
- Mountaineering qualified & professional trek leader, guide, and support staff.
Exclusions:
- Any kind of personal expenses.
- Food during the transit.
- Insurance.
- Mules or porter to carry personal luggage.
- Anything not specifically mentioned under the inclusions.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Change/Cancellation of Booking by the Participant
Process
The cancellation process is completely automated. Please log in to your Mountain Hike account and follow the instructions on your dashboard. You can choose between Instant Refund or Cash Refund as per the policy below.
Replacement of Participants
Participants can be replaced through the Mountain Hike dashboard if the booking status is “Paid” and at least 5 days remain before departure. If you face issues, email themountainhike@gmail.com with a screenshot of the error. The new participant must submit a signed undertaking form.
Note: Any Volvo/Train transport booked for the original participant will be automatically canceled and is non-transferable.
Cash Refund Policy
Cash refunds apply only for bookings made without promotional codes or vouchers. Refund amounts will be deducted as follows:
- 30+ days before departure: 5% deduction
- 15-30 days before departure: 50% deduction
- Less than 15 days before departure: No Refund
Refunds will be processed to the original payment method and are based on the Base Price of the trek, excluding transport, insurance, and portage fees.
Voucher Refund Policy
Voucher refunds are available for all types of bookings, including promotional offers. Refund amounts will be:
- 5+ days before departure: No deduction
- Less than 5 days: No Refund
Vouchers are valid for 10 months from the date of issue. The refunded voucher amount does not include service tax paid during the original booking.
Cancellation or Change Initiated by Mountain Hike
We reserve the right to modify or cancel an event due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather conditions, natural disasters, low participation, or any force majeure events. If this occurs, you will be given the choice of:
- A replacement event of equivalent value
- A full refund (processed as a voucher valid for 6 months)
If cancellation is due to low participation, participants can choose between a cash refund or a voucher.
Changes/Cancellation After Departure
Due to Force Majeure
No refund will be provided for cancellations due to force majeure after departure.
Other Reasons
If cancellations occur for reasons other than force majeure, we will attempt to arrange alternative services or provide a refund in the form of a 6-month voucher (or cash, if preferred).
Participant Dropout During the Event
No refund will be provided if a participant voluntarily drops out of the trek. Any additional costs incurred for return arrangements will be borne by the participant.
Early Return from an Event
If a participant returns early due to force majeure or an event ending sooner than planned, additional expenses (extra nights, transport) must be covered by the participant.
Emergency Evacuation
In case of a medical emergency, we will arrange evacuation to the nearest hospital. Any costs for porters, vehicles, ambulance services, or hospitalization must be covered by the participant.
